Electric Literature, Tin House, and The powerHouse Arena present an Opening Night Bookends Party, featuring live music by Backwords along with readings by Kelly Link, Marc Basch, Elissa Schappell, and a presentation of Matt Kish's Moby-Dick in Pictures. Brand new issues of both Electric Literature and Tin House will be available for purchase!

About the readers:

Kelly Link is the author of three collections: Pretty Monsters, Magic for Beginners, and Stranger Things Happen. She lives in Northampton, MA, where she and her husband, Gavin J. Grant, run Small Beer Press and play ping-pong.

Marc Basch's work has appeared in Glimmer Train Stories. He is at work on a novel.

Elissa Schappell's second collection, Blueprints for Building Better Girls, has just been published by Simon & Schuster. Her first book, Use Me, was a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award. She writes the Hot Type column for Vanity Fair, and is a founding editor of the literary magazine Tin House.

Matt Kish was born in 1969 and lives in the middle of Ohio. After stints as a cafeteria cook, a hospital registrar, a bookstore manager, and an English teacher, he ended up as a librarian. He draws as often as he can, often with whatever he can find. He has tried his hand at 35mm black-and-white photography (with real film and real chemicals), making comics and zines, a bit of collage, and lots of pen and ink. Moby-Dick is his favorite novel.
