powerHouse Arena welcomes Zena el Khalil and NYRB Lit for a unique evening that will also include a tap-dancing TED fellow, Andrew J. Nemr, and Lebanese wine.

About Beirut I Love You:

Zena el Khalil, a young Beirut-based female artist, writer, and activist who had an unconventional but worldly upbringing growing up in Lagos, Nigeria and attending art school in New York, returns after 9/11 to her familial home of Beirut and its mountains, beaches, food, music and drugs. Beirut, I Love You, is currently on its way to becoming a feature film, winning every award at the Torino Film Lab.

About the Author:

Zena el Khalil was born in London in 1976 and has lived in Lagos, London, New York, Turin and Beirut. She is an installation artist, curator and cultural activist. In 2008 she was invited to speak at the Nobel Peace Center, Oslo and in 2012 was named a TED Fellow.

About Andrew J. Nemr :

Mentored by Gregory Hines, Andrew is considered one of the most hardworking and diverse tap dance artists today. He was awarded a TED Fellowship in April of 2012.
