Local indie Sock Money Press launches their latest, My Apocalypse, edited by Scott Adkins. The anthology is an exploration of apocalyptic fascinations by writers including: Elissa Schappell, Bryant Musgrove, Terence Degnan, Paul Ketchum, and many, many more.
About the Book:
Sock Monkey Press (SMP) announces their second title for 2012 · My Apocalypse, edited by Scott Adkins. Adkins asks writers to tell us how they want the world to end. The anthology is an exploration of apocalyptic fascinations from poets, fiction writers, journalists, playwrights, and screenwriters. "I have been curious about the human capacity to dream of the end throughout history, to somehow want to will it to happen" says Adkins "and that's when I thought what if, what if we COULD write the end, what would it be? Assume it is going to happen December 2012, how would you want the world to end?"
Contributors to My Apocalypse include: Cody Burke, Kate Hill Cantrill, Ginger Cofield, Alexandra Collier, Erin Courtney, Ethan Crenson, Terence Degnan, Glen Einbinder, Marian Fontana, Karinne Keithley, Sibyl Kempson, Paul Ketchum, Martin Kleinman,Bryant Musgrove, Elissa Schappell, Steve Sheinkin, John Talbird, Jack Wilson, and Jonah Winter.
The book design is visually stunning with 17 of Glen Einbinder's Dream Cards, juxtaposing each story. Dream Cards are drawings Einbinder inspired by a weekly story from the science section of the NY Times in the year 2000. Although there are 17 cards reproduced in My Apocalypse, the entire set includes 52 cards and is sold in an edition of 10.
Photographs by Ethan Crenson bookend the book. The photos are from a series, Crenson is developing, of fallen or crushed traffic cones throughout New York City.
My Apocalypse retails for $25.00.
