Kool Ace was a top lieutenant in the Nation of Islam, before being expelled for adultery. After that he became a pimp. This shot was taken at the legendary Gold Club (now closed) and features Kool Ace with 3 of his ladies, Peaches, Crystal and Tasty feeding him ice cubes ‘cause he's kool.
Jamil GS, an American Dane residing in New York, studied fine art and graffiti in Copenhagen, then the streets of New York and at Parsons School of Design in New York. His work has been featured in publications including i-D, Trace, Face, Arena, Rolling Stone, Vibe, King, Complex, and the New York Times Magazine. His photographs are also in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and have been exhibited at Houston Galleries, Seattle; Gallerie Laforet, Tokyo; Studio 407, Urban Arts Museum, and Nom de Guerre; all New York; and the Cincinnatti Art Center in collaboration with Brent Rollins. His clients include Nike, Supreme, New Era, Reebok, Levi's, Budweiser and major record labels. Jamil has co-published GS-STICKUPS calendars with Hysteric Glamour, Supreme, Premium Goods, and Made. His first book will be published by AKA in summer 2008.
