Ohyun is a winter sleeper. But no bear, no hedgehog, no squirrel, a human winter sleeper with two eyes, one penis and a brain that can tell instincts and feelings apart. Even people who know him better just don’t know: Is it because he’s moving so fast in summer that he needs a rest in winter. Or is it that he has lots of energy in the middle of the year, because he chilled the colder days? Anyway: Ohyun just can’t keep still in summer. For six months he’s the fastest, the most restless man in the world.
He was born in April. Which means that Ohyun was a quiet boy the first six months of his mother’s pregnancy. So quiet, that she sometimes thought: “There’s nothing in—in me.” She learned to know better. Her contractions, the strongest in the history of medicine, started in month seven: The days got longer, Ohyun had to move out. He grew with double speed for half of the year. Stopped then for the other half. Grew again. Stopped. And so on. At eighteen he was as tall as the other boys, but not as rich. He missed Christmas too many times. Some girls liked him, most of them didn’t. They couldn’t accept him saying “First!” every time he had an orgasm and “Don’t call me, I’ll call you!” at the end of every September. One very dramatic year Ohyun woke up in April and his girlfriend was married to another man. That broke Ohyun. He moved back to his mother’s house.
Nowadays he is 55 years old, looks like 28 and works for FedEx. Did you ever ask yourself why letter’s and parcel’s delivery take such a long time in winter? You know now. Sometimes Ohyun will come to your house, a parcel in his hands, a smile on his face. He will ring the bell and you will shout: “Coming!” And Ohyun? He will say quietly to himself, “No reason to hustle.”
