About Archie and the Pirates
Acclaimed author and illustrator Marc Rosenthal returns with the delightful Archie and the Pirates, a charming tale filled with rich images and memorable characters. Archie wakes up one morning to find himself stranded on a beach. After whipping up a coconut breakfast, he builds a house and soon makes new friendsClarice the ibis and Beatrice the tiger. Together they plan a party, complete with fish and coconut soupArchie's specialty. The evening ends peacefully, with Archie playing the flute and Clarice serenading the group of friends. The next day their idyll is shattered when a band of pirates captures Beatrice! About Marc Rosenthal
Marc Rosenthal is an acclaimed designer, sequential artist, and children's book illustrator. He has worked on many books for children, and wrote and illustrated Phooey!, and illustrated The Absentminded Fellow by Samuel Marshak, First, Second by Daniil Kharms, The Straight Line Wonder by Mem Fox, Yo, Aesop! by Paul Rosenthal, The Runaway Beard by David Schiller, and also contributed to Little Lit: Strange Stories for Strange Kids, edited by Art Spiegelman. In addition, Marc worked with the Smithsonian Institution and the National Geographic Society to create a traveling exhibition on geography for children called Earth 2U. Marc currently lives in the Berkshires with his wife, Eileen and his son, Willem.
