PURCHASE PRINTS

Join the celebrated cartoonist, Adrian Tomine, for an exhibition of his illustration and comics. The exhibition is in conjunction with the publication of New York Drawings, a collection of work published in The New Yorker along with rare and uncollected New York-inspired images and sketches. Tomine will be in conversation with Jordan Awan, art director at the New Yorker.

PLEASE NOTE:
Those who purchase copies of New York Drawings or Tomine's backlist titles from powerHouse will be given priority in the signing line. Upon purchase, these customers will receive a number that indicates their place in line. Passes will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Customers can pre-order the paperback or his backlist in the store or online before the event, if they wish. Customers without passes will be asked to wait at the end of the line.

About the Book:

New York Drawings is a loving homage to the city that Tomine, a West Coast transplant, has called home for the past seven years. This lavish, beautifully designed volume collects every cover, comic, and illustration that he has produced for the New Yorker to date, along with an assortment of other rare and uncollected illustrations and sketches inspired by the city. Complete with notes and annotations by the author, New York Drawings features an all-new introductory comic focusing on Tomine's experiences as a New York illustrator.

About the Artist:

Adrian Tomine was born in 1974 in Sacramento, California. Since 1991 he has written and drawn the comic book series Optic Nerve, and his previous books include the New York Times Notable Book Shortcomings, Scenes From an Impending Marriage, and Summer Blonde. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and daughter.

Jordan Awan is an illustrator and art director based in Brooklyn, New York. In 2008, he co-founded Springtime Studio illustration with his wife and fellow illustrator Morgan Elliott. Since 2010 he has worked as an art director for the New Yorker. He has received recognition from The Society of Illustrators, American Illustration and the Art Directors Club.
