Liss Fain Dance, a San Francisco-based contemporary dance company known for its performance installation work, presents The Water is Clear and Still, an immersive installation that interweaves Liss Fain’s intensely physical and classically-informed choreography with the sharp-edged and beautiful short stories of celebrated author Jamaica Kincaid, performed by actor Val Sinckler. The audience enters the set and sound environment with the dancers and actor and becomes an integral part of the performance. The Water is Clear and Still is seen at close range and from multiple perspectives. A work of intimacy and unpredictability, The Water is Clear and Still creates an intricate portrait of a woman and a place.
