About the Author.
Michael Deagler’s debut novel EARLY SOBRIETIES will be published in 2024 by Astra House in the US and Hutchinson Heinemann in the UK. Deagler’s fiction has appeared in Harper’s, McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern, Electric Literature’s Recommended Reading, and elsewhere. He is the recipient of a National Magazine Award, as well as fellowships from the Fine Arts Work Center and the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts. He lives in Los Angeles, where he is pursuing a Ph.D. in creative writing and literature at the University of Southern California.
About the Moderator.
Paul Lisicky is the author of seven books including Later: My Life at the Edge of the World and The Narrow Door: A Memoir of Friendship. His work has appeared in The Atlantic, Conjunctions, The Cut, Fence, The New York Times Book Review, Ploughshares, and elsewhere. A recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, he is a Professor of English in the MFA Program at Rutgers University-Camden. A new book, Song So Wild and Blue: A Life with Joni Mitchell, is forthcoming in February 2025 from HarperOne.
