About the Red Ink Reading Series.
RED INK is a quarterly series curated and hosted by Michele Filgate. This dynamic series focuses on women writers, past and present. Red Ink makes one think of vitality, blood, the monthly cycle, correcting history, and making a mark on the world.
The next discussion, “Envy,” will feature Min Jin Lee (Pachinko), Jamie Quatro (Fire Sermon), Taylor Larsen (Stranger, Father, Beloved), Kate Tuttle (president of the National Book Critics Circle), and Rachel Lyon (Self-Portrait with Boy). Co-sponsored by Literary Hub.
About the Authors.
Jamie Quatro’s debut collection, I Want To Show You More, was a New York Times Notable Book, NPR Best Book of 2013, Indie Next pick, O Magazine summer reading pick, and New York Times Editors’ Choice. It was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction, the Georgia Townsend Fiction Prize, and the National Book Critics Circle John Leonard Prize. Quatro’s fiction, poetry, and essays have appeared in Tin House, McSweeney’s, VICE, The New York Times Book Review, and elsewhere. Quatro teaches in the Sewanee School of Letters MFA program, and lives with her husband and four children in Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
Taylor Larsen is a graduate of Columbia’s MFA program and her debut Stranger, Father, Beloved came out in July of 2016 through Simon and Schuster. She is currently a fiction instructor at Catapult and The Sackett Street Writers Workshop. Her novel was selected as a “2017 Summer Must Read” for The Huffington Post.
Rachel Lyon is the author of Self-Portrait with Boy (Scribner 2018). Her short stories and essays have appeared in Joyland, Iowa Review, the Brooklyn Rail, and other publications. She is a cofounder of the reading series Ditmas Lit. Visit her at www.rachellyon.work.
Kate Tuttle is president of the National Book Critics Circle. She writes a weekly column on books for the Boston Globe; her reviews, essays, and profiles have also appeared in the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Salon, the Rumpus, and elsewhere.
